Lviv National Agrarian University
Lviv National Agrarian University is one of the oldest and leading universities in Ukraine. It was founded in 1856 in small town Dublyany near Lviv and it is still here. At the beginning it was Dublyany Tillage School, only men could be student and classes were held in German. But time passed and women also became to study here. When the western Ukraine was occupied by Poland classes were held in Polish.
Now it is a large teaching complex, having six faculties, such as the faculty of economics, the faculty of agro technologies and ecology, the faculty of farm building and architecture, the faculty of mechanization and power engineering, the faculty of land management and the faculty of the correspondence education and retraining. More than six thousand students study in the university.
Classroom, laboratories, workshops, gymnasium, assembly-hall, library, canteen are on the university premises.
It is a campus university. Most students live on campus. There are six hostels in Dublyany. There are nearly one hundred rooms in each of them. Usually four-five students share one room. The rooms are not large but students try to make them comfortable.
During the academic year students attend lectures, seminars, practical’s, make home assignments, reports, etc. The academic year begins in September and runs till June or July and is divided into two terms. At the end of each term students have to pass exams and credits.
But it is not only studying what the students are busy with. Many of them participate in different kinds of extracurricular activities. They go in for sports and participate in many competitions. They sing, dance and do many other exciting things.
The university works according to the academic programs which lead to the degrees of Bachelor, Specialist and Master. Each faculty is headed by dean and the university is run by the Rector.
